In honor of Veteran’s Day this year, I am posting the photos of four family veterans (in order): My Grandpa Jack Webb, Grandpa George Ing, Great-Uncle Fred Nagata, and my own veteran, my husband Edward White. Both my grandpas, as well as my great-uncle, are all interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl, where, this year, Hawaii’s F-22s will fly in the missing man formation during the Veteran’s Day ceremony. Hope those guys enjoy the show!
Thank you to all the veterans out there for serving our country!

Someone remind me to take a better portrait of that last guy in uniform before his ETS date next year!
Today, we had a film photowalk around the Chinatown/Downtown area, where I shot a roll of Kodak Portra 160VC with my Nikon F (Yes, Nikon!). After I finished the roll at Aloha Marketplace (after a fantastic glass of sangria at Gordon Biersch), I took out the DSLR just in time to take these photos of my husband, Edward.
Well, actually, here is the prologue film photo:

You see, there were child rides scattered throughout Aloha Tower Marketplace, and he decided to cram himself in there. This first one was a tight fit for him, and he wriggled out as soon as we threatened to start it up with some quarters.
So, when we were leaving, and he came across this slightly more spacious ride, he just couldn’t help himself:

He is so proud of himself.

Yep, that’s my husband.

What can I say, I’m still madly in love with that guy!
Good thing he’s a handsome fellow.

So, after that ridiculousness, here are some scenes from today to serve as palate cleansers:

Again, don’t forget to check out the roll of film I shot today!
Hopefully blogging will pick up from now on…I’m planning on doing NaNoWriMo again this year, so we’ll see if that improves my writing habits.
Been feeling like my personal photography (when it happens) has been getting stale. So, going to be trying something different than my typical golden hour, warm split-toned, back-lit, shallow DOF, as far as portraits go. Good thing I have a live-in model now.

Edit – A few more added…

Three months ago I was falling in love.

I haven’t posted anything very personal on this blog yet, so here’s a taste of what’s been happening in my life. This past December, at the TBQ Anniversary Party/Tweetup, I met a certain Edward White, soldier for the U.S. Army by day, photographer and social media darling by night. It was the closest to love at first sight that I will ever realistically be, and, much to my happiness, he felt the same.

Fast-forward to two months later, specifically Valentine’s Day. On this day, he left for his year-long deployment to Afghanistan. I never thought I would be a military girlfriend dealing with deployment, but when you know, you know, and he is completely worth the wait. To help document my experiences over the next year on being the significant other of a deployed soldier, I’ve started a 365 Photo blog over on Posterous. I’m already 3 days down, with at least 362 days left to go, but it has already helped me get through these first few days.
Ed himself is also blogging his deployment via Posterous, so please check it out. I have contributor permissions for his blog, so I may post something once in a while from the POV of the ‘girlfriend back home’. His father, Mark White, is also blogging there from a fatherly perspective, so you, dear reader, will get the full deployment experience!
I’ll leave you now with a preview shot from our portrait shoot together with the fantastic Lisa Hoang of Windwardskies Photography!
In short:
There are a few more announcements of projects and such on the horizon, and I will hopefully be blogging a lot more now, so stay tuned.
